The Swedish Consumers' Banking and Finance Bureau - is an independent agency whose objective is to meet consumers' need for information and guidance regarding financial services and support in dealings with finance companies. The principals are the Swedish Consumer Agency, the Financial Supervisory Authority, The Swedish Bankers Association, the Swedish Mutual Fund Association and the Swedish Association of Securities dealers.

Konsumenternas Försäkringsbyrå

The Swedish Consumers' Insurance Bureau - provides guidance to consumers in various insurance matters. The Bureau offers pre-purchase information and guidance concerning losses, also product overviews by comparing virtually all forms of consumer insurance. While the Bureau is not empowered to reverse any decisions, the Bureau may attempt to conciliate disputes between policyholders and their insurance companies. The principals are the Swedish Consumer Agency, the Financial Supervisory Authority and  Insurance Sweden. All guidance is free of charge.

    All companies have procedures for dealing with complaints.
  • The National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN) examines disputes relating to private banking and insurance, and recommends ways of settling them.
  • District Courts.
    Ultimately, it is the courts that settle disputes. In many cases, the provision for legal aid included in the policy can be utilised in the policyholders disputes with their own insurance companies as well.
